PSA: Sky Sports is showing the Bledisloe in the UK tomorrow!
By - whiskylover23
Confirmed they will be showing the Rugby Championship as well. [Link](https://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/news/12321/12374188/bledisloe-cup-and-rugby-championship-to-be-shown-live-and-exclusively-on-sky-sports-in-the-uk-and-ireland)
What a relief. It’s on main event and lions (action) channel.
Such a mess in terms of rights, not sorted until the day before is a shambles. Not sure if Sky or the right sellers are more to blame, probably Sky low balling it and no one else coming up with anything.
SANZAAR seem to he pushing foreign rights negotiations to the last second since the last round of deals expired
Not great business sense if you ask me. Unless like I said above, Sky went in low and SANZAAR wanted someone else to pay more but that didn’t materialise. Or they’re struggling for various COVID reasons, and can’t cope with the process of selling the rights all over the world (something I know nothing about but imagine legally it’s not simple).
Last minute deals mean the channels/streaming services can’t promote the very competitions SANZAAR are trying to sell. Lower audience means lower income for the broadcaster, so lower bids next time around for the rights.
to be fair they more or less don't know what they're selling past the 3 Bledisloe games given Aus has more cities being locked down every day and NZ have ZERO flexibility in their quarantine arrangements - the original draw is toast
Does Fox still have the broadcasting rights in OZ? That was how Sky had the rights, I always presumed as one who has no idea usually does.
no, Stan sports has it now. but they'd still have tk bid seperately.
but sky is owned by Comcast, and fox by Newscorp, so they're seperarate completely
Gotcha, I had this idea in my head that Sky Group was owned by Newscorp. Because lets be real, sometimes feels like Newscorp owns everything.
it was before 2018, but there's been some business things and now Comcast own it
Ok I don’t feel that bad anymore. I though it was another fact I pulled out my ass. I have a fair few of those lol
Well thank fuck for that.
Might have to let my NOW TV subscription roll over for another month then
Yep, same - I was just about to cancel it too!
You should try cancel it and see if they'll give it to you at half price, worked for me with my Hayu, entertainment and movie subscriptions.
Can confirm they'll offer a month for £20 (down from £34) if you go to cancel.
Cheers for the tip
No worries, hopefully you'll get it half price!
Happy for all our UK viewers. I know Super rugby rates well in the UK.
They unfortunately don't cover Super Rugby or the Mitre 10 anymore, but at least we've got these still for now. I used to love SR
Any word on US? ESPN lied to me about super rugby and I don’t see Rugby Championship on the current schedule
Sorry mate - I have no idea!
Best I can suggest is a VPN set to Aus to watch on FTA!
What AU FTA is it on for an American with a VPN? Asking for a friend who doesn't want to give money to the dumpster fire that is Flosports.
Does Stan have an app for firestick or anything?
This guide says that Flosports have the rights, they are also covering the NPC.
It’s on Florugby
Story checks out
That’s good. I did guess Sky announce last minutes schedules. Looking forward to watch tomorrow.
What time is kickoff?
8:05am UK time
Wish they had gotten BUNNINGS NPC (MITRE10) as well this year :(
Mods sticky please
Fucking yes please. I was raging that I couldn’t see it.
Sky sports action? can't find it in their guide
Sick! any reason why their promo for it still says they've only got the last 2 tests? Lmao seemed like a weird decision. And google doesn't even know there is a game tomorrow lmao
No clue - just announced it looks like on the following: https://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/news/12321/12374188/bledisloe-cup-and-rugby-championship-to-be-shown-live-and-exclusively-on-sky-sports-in-the-uk-and-ireland
Strange it's announced so late though!
Do Sky still show Super Rugby (if that's still a thing)?
Used to love having it on in the background on a Saturday morning, particularly if it was 2 teams from New Zealand.
I don’t think so, it’s split (or at least it was for the last season) into super rugby Aotearoa and super rugby Australia with a final competition called super rugby trans Tasman.
I couldn’t find it on UK tv (I think I would have had to sign up to Rugby Pass) so I used to tune into the highlights which were very limited on YouTube every weekend.
No, they haven't had SR since before Corona sadly
I am so stoked they will be showing the Rugby Championship! I was torn on how I would be watching it. Great news!
Also available through a Now TV sports subscription if you don’t have cable telly anyway (I only have a Kindle Firestick for TV).
