Subsonic Eye - Fruitcake [Singapore Dream Pop] (2021)

Thanks! Fun song.
If you like this, [Life Without Buildings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SL4_DsUlH8) has a similar manic , free-flowering energy -- but they're a bit darker.
Immediately thought of this, yes.
I came across these guys playing an outdoor concert in Singapore about 2 years ago. Great stuff, I love thie sound. I'm hoping to see them again soon
Nice find! They have a great, layered, lush sound that really appeals to me.
Really like the composition, i wish i could appreciate the vocals as well, i find them subpar compared to the rest.
I feel like the vocals aren't mixed right. The mix reminds me of recording straight off the board, making demos for ourselves to work on songs.
This is a good song with ok vocals that just needs some mastering.
All it needs is some multiband limiting to make it louder than 90's trash metal, then just top it off with AutoTune so it will sound like the same robot is singing it that also made all other songs in the past two decades which got me to lose all my passion for music.
I'm downloading this performance as it is before any of you monsters get your filthy hands on it.
Lol calm down…nobody mentioned autotune. Sound mixing is about a lot of things.
I find the vocals nice and floaty over the top
I think peoples are right. Vocals just need some mixing. It’s not crisp and loud enough. And the lyrics are too repetitive for my taste.
This reminds me a lot of Courtney Barnett - pretty cool! :D
Wow, this is not what I was expecting to stumble on tonight, but I love it.
I'm in love with this band.
What's dreampop here? Sounds like college rock or jangle pop. The lead singer affects a Natalie Merchant voice over clean guitars.
yea people fail to identify dreampop/shoegaze right. this band's older 2 albums count as dreampop for sure but this is just indie.
I miss Singapore...
this band is from Singapore?
Plot twist: Singapore dream pop is from Russia
Me too friend… Me too…
So refreshing! Great song, and what an amazing performance. Thank you for sharing this.
A lot of British alternative from the ougts sounded like this. Jangly Johnny Marr type guitare with sweet layering. Not criticizing. Music like this always makes me feel like someone kind has just hugged me and the sun is shining.
Cool song. It reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I hope to hear this song again on Indie Pop Rocks on SomaFM.
same. something very 90s. something i liked. i wish i could remember.
Bit like the band Crumb
How do you say ‘this shit is tight!’ in Chinese? Cool track
English is sorta the first language in Singapore
Aren’t they known for having like four official languages? Plus I don’t think English is necessarily the default throughout the country. I dated a girl from Singapore and she spoke English but her default was Chinese.
Yeah different races, languages and dialects, that is why English is nationally used as the default language. Either way, I reckon many Singaporeans would understand the saying, “this shit is tight”
They have a full performance on KEXP, [posted yesterday](https://youtu.be/DUb9c_Bpk38).
Yo this is a ripper! Shoutout Audiotree, gotta go dig through their recent streams now.
Ooh I love dream pop. Sometimes it’s more garage pop/surf rock/punk leaning and other times it’s more whimsical like bedroom pop and even psychedelic leaning. Good stuff. Though I would say this band is more power pop/garage pop/surf rock. Fits in with Chastity Belt, Alvvays, Snail Mail, Kinokoteikoku, Fourth Wanderers, Dum Dum Girls and the like.
I love this song, one of my favorites of the year for sure! This performance is super tight as well
Loved this song since I first heard it a few months ago. I get a really strong The Sundays vibe - any one else? Thinking Hideous Towns kind of thing.
This isn't dream pop
Mmm, not my cup of tea but I gave it a shot. Can anyone actually hear what the vocalist is saying though? It seems like the instruments are louder than her
There is another Singaporean band signed to the same label as them, [Sobs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKgstZ7xcGc), who make similar music but I find the mixing better.
