What kind of town did I stumble into?
By - Cigarello23J
Getting Bioshock Infinite vibes
I'm getting JRPG vibes, particular Kingdom Hearts
its like a weird cursed fusion of twilight town and traverse town
The architecture of Twilight Town with the weird and scaled down "theme park town" scale of Traverse Town.
Twilight town and traverse town combined is the best possible way to describe this. It feels uncanny.
And the thing in the middle is to make a phone call to your dad and save the game
I'm getting Coconut Mall vibes
First thought as well. Fairly early in the game when sun starts to set.
Op should check his hand to make sure he's not the False Shepherd
just needs a barbershop quartet singing God Only Knows.
and some racists throwing shit at tied up PoC.
First thing I thought when I saw the image
Pretty sure this is Vegas, Planet Hollywood if im not mistaken. I don't go there too often (Planet Hollywood), so I don't remember.
⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
Edit: Yes, it is!
I love walking through here when I'm in Vegas
Caesar’s palace and a few of the others have sections like this too.
I think they drop the temperature to give it more of an outdoor feel. It looks odd in a picture but the overall effect when you’re there is surprisingly effective.
I was thinking Venetian
The venetian is a trip. It's always hard to keep track of time in Vegas anyways but in the venetian it's wild. The first time I went Vegas we stopped by there pretty late, like 11 or 12. You hang out for a while, check out some stores, do a gondola ride. Completely forget what time it is. Walk out thinking it's like 6 in the evening and bam nope it's actually 2 am.
I remeber the first time I took the escalator up into the shopping area and saw that sky. I actually thought the escalator had taken me outside.
We stayed in the Paris one very recently and it’s just like this too
same... and seeing the thunderstorm was so cool!!
Today I learned that a lot of the casino hotels in Vegas have these sky rooms. I though it was just Caesars…
Having only seen it while in Caesars I thought so too.
Not only in Vegas, the Ameristar in Kansas City has it too. But no surprise, Kansas City is the most luxurious city in the world.
I liked it more when it was Aladdin honestly. The bazaar theme with all the cool structures was awesome.
Actually, I think it’s the Ameristar in Kansas City, MO! (I was actually just there last night 😂). The Prairie Room is on of the places inside there, and you can see the “AM” of Ameristar in the lights on the right side.
Hah it is! The train should be right in the lobby behind this picture I think
I saw all the talk of Vegas above and was like nahhhhhh..
It’s actually Ameristar in Kansas City! Stood here many time
These sky pattern on the ceiling is a common thing so I understand the confusion.
You can even see the A in the top right corner that spells AMERISTAR over a Jumbotron
Yep I've been in there, I often had dreams like this afterward
Looks more like the Miracle Mile to me.
Planet Hollowmind more like it!
I was thinking Sunset Station instead haha
where is this
I'm guessing Vegas
Yep. Went last year. Holy crap it was creepy with how empty everything was.
As others have pointed out, it is [Ameristar casino in Missouri](https://goo.gl/maps/eDgcEMyR2j9ZUMxs9). If you look through the pictures there, you can make out the marquee and lighting fixtures.
inside the venetian hotel in Vegas, was there about a month ago
This one is actually planet Hollywood.
The Venetian, maybe Bally’s, could even be Caesar’s.. hard to tell.
I’m pretty sure it’s Paris, I was there not too long ago.
Looks like Vegas. The shops in/by Caesars Palace with the fake sky ceiling.
Love that place, but this one is different I think. The Caesar’s one has cobblestone floors and fake ancient Roman architecture. I think it looks gorgeous in person if you don’t look at the fake sky. When it’s in your upward peripheral walking around, it works just well enough to really let your mind believe
Could it be the Venus Fort mall in Odaiba, Tokyo?
I thought so to but people seem to think it’s in Vegas. Very similar I guess.
THIS WAS VEGAS????? I was here as a kid, I remember that fucking sky ceiling and thought I was in Italy ????
The Venetian/Palazzo also has a shopping area like this with sky ceilings.
Idk if anyone has played this but definitely giving off some Fallout NV Dead Money DLC vibes
Yeah lol Sierra Madre was the first thing i thought of aswell
Lmao i was thinking dead rising 2. Makes sense though, pretty sure NV and DR2 both took place in vegas.
The fake sky ceiling does all the work TBH.
(Well, that and the sheer absence of people)
I think the air conditioning is different too. It’s a pretty impressive trick.
Is this Ameristar in Kansas City
It absolutely is.
Guys I worked here. This is Ameristar in Kansas City. The buffet is in the distance there past the prairie room and they play hella Shania Twain music videos on the board just out of view to the top right of the image. Also, the beginning of the word "Ameristar" is visible in the top right.
Interesting to find out that another casino has this same thing going on in Vegas.
I have memories of this being Station Casino and jamming to the B52s on that same board.
I was trying to remember what it was called before Ameristar. I remember that theater was the big shit, just before they built the AMC 24. That definitely ages me lol!
Congrats you're in the true man show
This reminds me of the Dubai mall... I'm the biggest shopping center in the world. It had, in parts, areas like this. Dubai is a strange place.
reminds me of Twilight Town
There’s care facilities for mentally handicapped people that are set up like this. With bus stops and corner stores, and all the employees dressed in plain clothing. It’s equal parts creepy, and endearing
Damn, that’s interesting! Any particular examples?
That isn't the sky is it?
Almost the same in Tokyo: [https://firstname.lastname@example.org,139.7805862,2a,75y,248.81h,96.37t,0.7r/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s7kiiq3uT10WOz4n3FzD-gQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192](https://email@example.com,139.7805862,2a,75y,248.81h,96.37t,0.7r/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s7kiiq3uT10WOz4n3FzD-gQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192)
I was going to say, this looks like the Venus Fort mall in Odaiba, Tokyo.
The Venetian Macao is the same thing too
Copied city v.2 nier automata
I've been to a mall just like this in Qatar once.
Villaggio! I thought that’s what I was looking at.
Looks like the Sierra Madre from fallout NV
I've been there with the family, it's in Vegas and is very beautiful.
Is this in the Trafford Centre
this reminds me of that one place in fallout 4 inside of the vault under the school where theres a firing range and its like a set
This looks like a kids' "fun park" we have in Portugal called kidzania, it's like a simulation of a small city and kids can take "fake" jobs for "fake" money. It has very similar vibes.
It's feel crowded for some reason
You stumbled into Ceasars.
The venetian macau?
Good Old Ameristar Casino in KCMO. So much time, money, and braincells wasted here, so many calories consumed. So many years taken off my life.
Imagine living in a small town like that. It’s never night. Whenever you wake up or go to sleep, everything always looks like this. How would you feel about that?
I was gonna say, “man thats cool, what would really make the cake is if the sky was actually a ceiling and thereby enforcing the feeling of being entra-“
FunPlex or Atlantic City.
I think this is a model retirement home. All this is built indoors
It’s a casino in Vegas.
That was my first thought too. I think I saw something like that not too long ago.
Venetian Las Vegas
The Venetian in Vegas looks kind of like this. Lol oops duh it's the Grand Cannal shops. 2nd edit. Apparently it's Planet Hollywood.
This looks like Vegas near Forum Shops
Is this Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas
I had a dream of this exact place. Oh my god
That's a set, for sure!
A nice one
Loving that wallpaper sky
kinda getting FF XIII-3 vibes
Lvl.588962 of the backrooms
Walked right onto the set of an I Spy book.
Honestly , i'd kill to live in this town
O shit! I might have been there im not sure
A set up !
*gasp* holy mother forking shirt balls!
Looks like a movie set
I remember visiting a place like this somewhere in the Kansas city metro area when was very young. A buffet was involved i think.
looks like main street usa at disneyland!
I sure would like to take my longboard there.
Ah, I've been in a place just like this. It was fun at first and then it was incredibly disorienting. It felt so artificial and I really wanted to leave. When I think about it to this day, I always feel glad how real and comfortably imperfect my world is.
Looks like a hub-area in some kind of liminal space video-game.
Truman show 2: electric boogaloo?
The sky looks like a "skybox" from an old FPS game.
And buildings like a Hollywood stage.
I think I saw Kim K somewhere around there once when I was there
don’t know why but gives me New Vegas vibes
I’ve been here, years ago, and actually have dreams about wandering these halls, lost, for hours at a time.
Fun to go there high as a kite, and/or on shrooms.
I can already hear the distant pop music in the background accompanied with the air conditioner humming
Bioshock infinite was my first thought. Crank that lovely music and look for some purchasable power ups
This gives me Dead Rising vibes
this is duloc
First thing that came to mind was Clive Barker's Son of Celluloid
the sky looks like it was painted on
Reminds me of Kingdom of hearts
It looks like a casino I've been to before
Damn that looks like a movie set, kind of haunting
This looks like a movie set
Why does the sky look so fake
Don't eat the buffet
That is nn Las Vegas right? It's called the venice shops or something
I’m waiting for the day someone makes the entire ceiling an array of video panels. Dynamic clouds would be so cool
idk if it’d make it less liminal though
This has the energy of an I Spy book
Hey I have been here, its a mall in vegas
Is this the Venetian in Vegas ? God I hate that place.
The sky looks… artificial.
That’s Columbia dude! Be sure to visit the Hall of Heroes while you’re there!
Looks ALOT like Kidzania in Monterrey, MX.
This reminds of that Paris thing in Vegas
It feels fake.
Looks like it would be a cod zombies map
Classic Las Vegas
Ummm Las Vegas?
Pretty sure this is in Vegas, or at least there's a similar place there. Vegas is FULL of weird, not-quite-right spaces.
