Wild people shouldn’t have an Ideology.
By - sts816
Just because I'm wandering around naked in the woods near your hometown doesn't mean I don't have any kind of ideology.
Right? I might eat berries and shit myself constantly, but I am still a man of culture!
Eating berries and shitting yourself is culture.
You made me cry from laughter. Thank you dear stranger! Take my poor person gold 🏅🥇
Being “wild” they’re essentially just wild animals that you can tame. Animals don’t have ideologies so they shouldn’t either.
That's not how people work.
But its how people work on the rim. Wild people literally have to be tamed
But wild people in rimworld have always a backstory, so they don't just born wild, they become wild after some bad situation happen.
they become wild after a trauma, like in real life, you can lost temporany the memory after some big trauma.
So, yeah they are wild now, but inside they are still human after all.
I dont think anyone here is saying they arent still human. They are just more like an animal om the surface
I mean don't you literally have to tame wild people in rimworld
With the whole colonist thing it makes sense that they would call these other people "wild" and having to "tame" them. That's been done for thousands of years in human history, but it doesn't mean those people didn't have some kind of ideology or higher ideas.
I'm just saying that the way it is makes sense with human history and the kind of game rimworld is.
They might have had higher ideas once, but at this point they've forgotten how to wear clothes or sleep on beds. It doesn't make sense that they'd still remember everything about their old religion.
While that is true, they should at least block shit like Transhumanism from a dude that's shitting in the woods naked and has forgotten how to human.
I'm pretty sure that dude would want a robo anus so he doesn't get stung by nettles
Well it’s also a video game
But that doesn't mean it doesn't make sense the way it is
Should they believe in an Arco-Centric society based wholly around ultratech bionics and age reversal? Nah.
Should they believe in a lifestyle based entirely around survival at any cost and using only their basest needs and abilities? I would say that's fair.
In short they should default to a "Feral" ideology all around just eating whatever, wearing whatever(or Nothing), and not caring about anything but their own survival.
Yeah that’s a good idea. My thinking was that if they’re feral, they’re essentially an animal at that point. Like you can literally tame them. Animals don’t have an ideology so maybe they shouldn’t either.
Elephants have been seen to worship the moon, but I don’t disagree with your general point
Worship is not the word id use the that behaviour.
But what if we add ideologies for animals instead?
You want to tame that muffalo? Well, you have to convert it to your ideology first. But if muffalo is good, it will convert your tamer to its ideology instead. Now its a muffalo colony, you lost.
Muffalo 3 has some wierd ideas on cannibalism
Muffalo 3 thinks that humans eating humans is much better than humans eating muffalos.
Yeah, it feels like an oversight by the developers. I once had a feral person walk on my map who was pissed because he had an "uncovered groin", which is against his ideology even though he was a feral person.
They should have their own ideology, worship of the allmighty Berry Bush
I disagree. Humans have an innate need to explain and understand things, even those outside of normal society.
I agree that having a 'feral'/wild, naked man called Boomrat believing in body purification and in transhumanism is weird, though. I can't imagine tribes in the Amazon believing in future superhuman space marines.
The Celts had an ideologies, so why wouldn't those guys
Celts weren't feral people.
tell that to the romans
To the Roman's, everyone was feral, even other Roman's
I mean, were they very wrong?
You had Celts, Vikings, and Barbarians to the north; You had Mongols to the east; and you had tribes of Africans, not even out of the stone age, to the south. Also you had the middle east, the turks, and the russians
Yes and no. If civilization didn't exist no one would be 'feral'. They lived how they pleased. It wasn't a bad existence just a different one. Roman's found that displeasing and decided to 'do them a favor' and rule them.
Yah, and once again, we wouldn't be out of the stone age. Do I like the romans? No, they were brutes. But the romans were still one of the best things that happened to the world.
Celts would be the equivalent of tribal factions, not wildmen.
Ideologion can be either a religion or ideology, but I think is does a bad job at showing non religious ones.
Nah, don't forget the religion has existed since we're still using stone.
But still, I think wild people's ideology should have some adjustments in case he got mental break just because his randomized ideology sucks
Think of indigenous people from any continent, they all had actual ideologies, quite rich ones.
Feral =/= indigenous
Who said animals don't have ideologies? I have three cats and I'm pretty sure they all believe they're gods of death, the hunt and excess.
"In ancient Egypt, cats were worshipped as gods. The cats have never forgotten this."
